Surveillance Options

There are several legal options available to determine if your spouse or significant other is cheating.

Surveillance Options include:

Stationery Surveillance
Mobile Surveillance
Use of Decoy
GPS Vehicle Tracking
Equipment Purchase

Any kind of surveillance must be public to be legal.  We do not violate what the law calls a "reasonable expectation of privacy".  That means we cannot video or audio tape what is not considered public.  For example, we cannot zoom our cameras through curtains or into a private backyard.  However, if our target is in a public places, such as a restaurant or bar, or opens the front door to his/her home, they have made themselves public.  At this point, they no longer have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

For more information, contact a licensed attorney and get legal advice.  We are not attroneys and, therefore, cannot and will not give legal advice.

Stationary Surveillance
This involves sitting outside a business, inside a public business, or outside a home or other location, and waiting for the target to make a move.  It is many times combined with Mobile Surveillance and could take some time waiting for the subject to become mobile.

Mobile Surveillance
This involves following the target while he or she is on the move.  This would include foot surveillance or following them in a vehicle.  Because they are on public streets, there is no expectation of privacy.

Use of Decoys
This can be quite effective but controversial.  If your lover is in a location (example, a bar) where it might be effective for he/she to interact with someone else, a decoy may be appropriate.  Our decoys will not lure or trap the subject into doing something they may not do, but they will be that opportunity for them.  This is used mostly for peace of mind and not for investigations which require an admissibility in court.  It can be valuable to know what you need to do whether it be counseling, break off the relationship or other options.

GPS Vehicle Tracking
Missouri's laws have not quite caught up with technology.  There appear to be now laws regarding the use of GPS vehicle tracking in a cheaters investigation.  However, our in-house rule is that we will not place a GPS tracker on a vehicle unless our client's name is also on the title, erring on the side of caution.

GPS vehicle trackers come in two types: active and historical.  A historical GPS activates when the vehicle moves and can record a vehicle movement for up to two weeks.  When downloaded, you can see the approximate location of the vehicle at documented times and speeds.  An active GPS can tell you where that vehicle is right now.

If we are using an active GPS in our investigation, we will not share that information with you until later.  This avoids confrontation and potential violations of the law due to emotional outbursts.
While the GPS will tell you where the vehicle is or has been, it will not tell you what happened or who the target was with or any other visual information.

Equipment Purchase
We have available all kinds of surveillance gear such as cameras hidden in soda cans, clocks, smoke detectors, as well as GPSs.  We sell them with the expectation that you will use the equipment within legal perameters.  We take no responsibility for your misuse of such equipment.
